Fermate was submitted to the Faculty of Wesleyan University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in May 2003. It is a collection of seven essays which take a small inscription by Paul Celan as a starting point. On a French translation of one of his poems he drew an eight-note under a fermata.
